The second smallest of all the Canary Islands is the island of La Gomera which is located off the coast of Tenerife in the Atlantic Ocean. The island which is roughly circular in shape has a volcanic origin and is about 15 miles in diameter rising to nearly 5,000 feet at its peak of the highest mountain on the island, Garajonay. There are also deep ravines which are covered in laurel rainforest.
